Volunteer With nutriFoodie's Summer Camps!
Our campers explore nutrition and healthy living through interactive activities, in depth discussions and cooking. We cook something healthy every day to facilitate those meaningful connections between young nutritionists and their food.
This year our camps are running July 15 – July 26, 2019.
All nutrition and cooking camps are held in Vancouver, BC as day camps on weekdays.

Our Camp Leaders have their own mini-clan of campers and support the Camp Instructors in daily camp activities including cooking, crafts, grocery tours, and other games/exercises.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Be a nutrition, dietetics, culinary or health sciences student with Food Safe I certification
- Training in First Aid and CPR-C **external training will be arranged depending on interest**
- Experience in summer camps & working with children (ages 7-13)
- Experience with food handling and preparation
- Knowledge of cooking and recipe development
- Complete a criminal record check prior to the camps start
- Mandatory attendance at training sessions (May 25th & June 15th)
- Be a self-starter, passionate, positive and enthusiastic
There’s more opportunities to diversify your experience and participate in additional tasks per interest and availability: recipe testing, crafts and painting, activities & games planning, promotions and advertisements, etc…
** Depending on demand, we will arrange a group first aid training at a discounted price.

I especially need volunteers who have technical and detail-oriented skills such as formatting and poster creation using Canva, or food-focused cooking or food photography skills to help with the recipe testing.
This position can be supplementary to any other position or stand alone depending on your availability and skill-set.
The Camp Support volunteer will be a “floater” in the camp, in which they help groups that require additional support as well as set-up for the next activity. You’ll get to work closely with the Lead Camp Instructor with facilitating the activities and make sure we’re always on track. This position will entail additional responsibilities towards giving a helping hand to Camp Leaders and their small group of children.
- Must be available for Monday-Friday from 10 am – 2 pm.
- Additional hours on the Sunday prior to the camp to assist with grocery shopping, set-up, and take-down
Camp and Food Photographer
Our photographer will join us for at least 3 days a week during and snap as many pictures as you are able to within 3 hours.
- Must have experience taking pictures of food and people
- Have your own camera and experience with editing
Provide photos to nutriFoodie using a USB Key at the end of each week.
Important to Note:
Volunteers are required to get a criminal record check from their local police department, prior to commencing work with nutriFoodie.
Application is restricted to students who are in their second year in University / College or above.

"A lot of the daily structure comes down to the instructor and volunteers and how they are able to read their campers. [Critical Thinking] isn't really a component or skill you can teach, but it's probably the most important part.The main priority is to ensure that our campers have positive and meaningful experiences. Navigating an environment where I have to match various personality types with various tasks within a certain time frame is a [good] challenge, but the only way to learn is to by trying, adjusting and re-adjusting."

nutriFoodie offers various adult cooking classes and workshops, one-on-one nutrition coaching, as well as kids summer camps focused on nutrition and cooking.
